Safety & legality in Uganda

Crypto is not formally regulated in Uganda. In 2022 the Bank of Uganda directed regulated financial institutions to stay out of cryptocurrency services, so banks do not handle crypto — but informal peer-to-peer trading remains very active across the country. The legal framework may change; treat this page as general information, not legal advice, and check the rules that apply to your situation.

Because the market is informal, counterparty trust matters most. AfriKash's launch-phase process is built for that: no account, no deposit in advance, and you only send crypto after the amount and rate are confirmed in writing at checkout. We never ask for your private keys, your MoMo PIN or any password. Every completed trade comes with a written receipt — crypto received, rate applied, shillings paid out.
